Non Surgical Root Canal

What is a root canal?

A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 15 million every year according to the American Association of Endodontists. This safe and effective treatment can save your natural teeth and get you out of pain.

Root canals treat infections in the tooth’s innermost layer, called the pulp. The pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks, or chips.

Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury to the tooth, swelling of the gum tissue, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums. If you experience any of these symptoms and after a thorough examination including s-rays, we may recommend a non-surgical treatment to eliminate the diseased pulp.

The injured pulp is removed and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and sealed. This therapy usually involves local anesthesia and may be completed in one or more visits depending on the treatment required. If you are interested in additional sedation options to make you more comfortable, we will be happy to discuss your options during your consultation.

Why Root Canals Are Important:

Pain Relief: Root canals relieve the pain caused by an infected or damaged tooth.
Tooth Preservation: Saving your natural tooth is always a priority and preferable to extraction because it maintains the alignment and function of your mouth.
